PhD student

Lyna Bourouiba is a PhD FRS-FNRS fellow at the Faculty of Architecture of the ULB (2020-2024). She graduated as an architect from ENSA Paris La Villette in 2015 (DE) and in 2017 (HMONP). In 2018, in the same school, she obtained with hight honors a post-master's degree "Research in Architecture" conducted within the AHTTEP research centre.
Her work focuses on the transcultural history of the idea of 'zero degree' of architectural writing borrowed by some architects, historians, theorists, and critics, from Roland Barthes' Writing Degree Zero in a context of crisis of modernity and authorship.

In 2020 and 2024, she received a research grant from the Academia Belgica to spend a month in Rome as part of her doctoral research. With Wouter Van Acker, she organized a symposium entitled "The zero degree of architectural writing - Theorizing, drawing and debating the ’third term'" held in November 2022 in Brussels.
